Jim found a jar of sun dried tomatoes in the pantry and added them.

Jim saw a frittata pan in a Williams-Sonona catalog over a year ago. It always looked interesting to him; so, he finally ordered one. The other day he asked me if I knew what a ‘friata’ was. I was a little skeptical of the word and told him, "no." He told me he had bought a new pan to cook a ‘friata.’ I was fascinated. Then I asked him if it could possibly be a pan for cooking a "frittata." He smiled and realized his mistake. BTW: His mother would always find recipes for food and cook them deliciously, but mispronounce the name of the food. I guess Jim gets this honestly. HaHa!

Tonight Jim cooked a frittata for us. It was delicious. I took pictures throughout the process, even when my Nikon D80 BROKE again. I just continued with my Nikon Coolpix S7c. I hope that the D80 didn’t break because I was trying a new gadget to help disperse the light of the flash! Oh, well! I guess I’ll never know.

Sauteeing the green onions. Believe it or not, Jim said this was the first time he had ever sauteed food. I was very surprised.

Question by Quinn: Does anyone have any info on Cooking Contests fr Teens?
I love to cook and I think I am good enough to enter a competition. Do any of you have knowledge of some good teen cooking competitions? I’m 14 years old and a Freshman in High School in Texas. But I can travel if necessary.

Answer by David H
Learn to cook in Camp Dutch ovens! I run a competition on the second weekend in june at the Carson City Rendezvous. We have 5 teams that show up every year to compete in the Jr. division(18 and under). There are at least 4 other Dutch oven competitions in the Central Valley and Northern California area which also have Junior divisions 5 to 15 teams each! You can also enter foods into your county fair, Those competitions are cook offs or competitions and there are lots of Jr. divisions!

For more info on Dutch oven competitions around the US and in texas contact one or both of the websites below.
