Stock up: Enjoy a Mexican dinner with these three products - Atlanta Journal Constitution

Margarita wine cocktail from Rancho La Gloria There are lots of margaritas and margarita mixes out there, but we’ve been enjoying this ready-to-drink margarita in a sweet, frosted bottle from Rancho La Gloria. The story is that the Rancho La Gloria Hotel in Tijuana, Mexico, is where the margarita first was served, back in 1938. We can’t say this is the same recipe, but it is a very delicious margarita, made with agave wine instead of tequila. (Agave is same source plant for both the wine and the liquor.) The cocktails also include cane sugar, natural flavors and lime juice, and come in the traditional lime flavor, but also strawberry, mango, watermelon, peach, blueberry and paloma. Just uncap the bottle and pour. $14.99 per 1.5-liter bottle, $8.99 per four-pack of 187-milliliter bottles. Available at Publix, Kroger, Target and Food Depot. Information at rancholagloria.com . Squid pro quo: Hamptonites offer cash, lavish gifts for dinner reservations - The Real Deal

Image
75 Main in Southampton and John Catsimatidis (75 Main, Getty) Waterfront homes aren’t the only types of property commanding premium prices in the Hamptons these days. So are spots at some of the East End’s most exclusive restaurants, according to the New York Post. For the privilege of dining at hotspots like Tutto Il giorno and Le Bilboquet, wealthy Hamptonites are offering up gifts to restaurant owners, servers and hosts. These arrangements include handing out cash, tickets to concerts, and rides on yachts and in helicopters. Some restaurants are taking the offers, while others refuse. The fierce competition for tables is in part due to of a wave of people shacking up on the East End this summer. In some cases, restaurants are also short-staffed because of the pandemic. New York City grocery magnate and developer John Catsimatidis, who has made billions on oil refineries and gas station/convenience stores, spent five figures to secure a table at 75 Main in Southampton for the s...

The Black Dinner – An event that inspired the “Red Wedding” in Game of Thrones - HeritageDaily

Image
The Black Dinner refers to an event in late medieval Scotland, in which the principal heads of the Douglas Clan were invited to dine with King James II, that ultimately led to them being falsely executed. King James II (AD 1430 – 1460) of the line of Stewarts was the son of King James I and Joan Beaufort, but succeeded his father at the age of six after James I was assassinated in AD 1437 in a sewer tunnel, whilst trying to flee from Sir Robert Graham of Kinpont and a group of conspirators. Regency over the boy king was given to Archibald Douglas, 5th Earl of Douglas, who headed the Scottish government as lieutenant-general of the realm during the minority of James until AD 1439.   After Archibald’s death, power was shared amongst William Crichton, 1st Lord Crichton and Lord Chancellor of Scotland, Sir Alexander Livingston of Callendar, and James Douglas, Earl of Avondale. The Douglas clan were the most prominent family in lowland Scotland during the Late Middle Ages and wer...

Harris' Dinner For Female Senators Sees Women Bonding Amid A Divided Washington - NPR

Image
Washington may seem divided, but a recent dinner hosted by Vice President Kamala Harris for her former female colleagues in the Senate hints at something else: personal relationships. SCOTT SIMON, HOST: This week, Vice President Harris invited a few former co-workers to dinner. Her guests were women with whom she used to serve in the U.S. Senate, Republicans and Democrats. Dinners like that might be a surprise in this deeply divided Capitol, but senators say they need more of these moments. NPR's congressional correspondent Kelsey Snell reports. KELSEY SNELL, BYLINE: There was rose and fish, a simple centerpiece of white flowers and greenery and plenty of selfies. Basically, it was a normal dinner party. TAMMY BALDWIN: It's like getting the band back together. SNELL: That's Wisconsin Democrat Tammy Baldwin talking about the bipartisan dinner at Harris's new residence. The women of the Senate used to have dinners like this before the coronavirus made it impossib...

Image
Kerr describes his round of golf, dinner with Barack Obama originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea Steve Kerr has accomplished a lot in his life. And a couple weeks ago, he did something he never will forget. Kerr had the privilege of playing a round of golf at Pebble Beach with the 44th President of the United States -- Barack Obama. "Thrill of a lifetime. Thrill of a lifetime," the Warriors coach said this week on The Rex Chapman Show with Josh Hopkins. "And then having dinner afterwards with him. Basically a full day. We had the most amazing day. Just to hear him talk. "To talk world events and then seamlessly go into the nuances of the pick-and-roll in the NBA ... he's incredible. I was so lucky." That is awesome. And there really isn't anything else to say. Follow @DrewShiller on Twitter Download and subscribe to the Dubs Talk Podcast

Inside the IRL Clubhouse dinner party - The Verge

Image
During a normal week, Leiti Hsu dedicates at least one night to hosting her Dream Dinner Party. She hops on Clubhouse to interview guests, describing the food and atmosphere of her fictitious party as a gateway into deep, emotional conversations. Wagyu steak sizzles in front of you, she calls out, a massage table and masseuse sit on call for anyone who wants to take some time away from the (imaginary) table, she reminds you. But last week, Hsu showed us what her Clubhouse room looks like when brought into the real world. Packed inside a New York City apartment, Hsu has brought in an actual masseuse, Tony Qin, to rub people down. A chef stands behind an island prepping “roving omakase,” like octopus salad and spicy tuna onigiri, along with various a la minute dishes. Tom Shpetner, aka Tom the Somm, aka the night’s sommelier, walks around pouring drinks. This party’s his first time back working the room, schmoozing with guests, and gushing about wine since the pandemic shut everything d...
