Now that the 100% Mexican avocado pulp processor, Guacamolito®, has had two years of positive experience in the market, the company has decided to step forward and will offer the traditional Mexican guacamole in the booming and unexplored market of New York City. The company will initially invest up to 5 million dollars in the project, called 'Guacamolito To Go'. Guacamolito® has sold over one million dollars in the United States, especially to local food chains and wholesalers in California, the state that consumes the most avocado in the country. To put it in perspective, The United States consumes 40% of the world's avocados, and a fifth part of this is bought in California; Thus, Guacamolito's plan to establish new offices in Los Angeles. Right now their headquarters are located in Mexico City. The company's CEO, Miguel Peinado González, mentioned that Guacamolito To Go's launch has great growth potential in New York due to its ecosystem, which makes it p...

Image
It’s officially summer, which means we’re having fresh guacamole at least three times a week. I don’t know about you, but guacamole and chips are just the perfect summer snack. And while there’s really nothing better than good ol’ original guac, it’s sometimes fun to spice things up. Whether you’re trying to impress your friends with a new guacamole recipe or just want to excite your tastebuds, here are 7 ways you can spice up your guacamole all summer long: Edamame guacamole Looking for a unique and high protein alternative to regular guac? Just add some edamame! Edamame is super high in protein and great for those who follow a plant-based diet. Cheesy guacamole Sort of like queso and guac in one. Cheesy guacamole is everything you know and love about plain guac, but with the added decadence of cheese and a hint of spice from jalapeño. Pomegranate and pepita guacamole Pomegranate and pepitas with guac? Don’t knock it ’till you try it. This recipe is the perfect balance of sweet...

Seriously Simple: Grilled skirt steak with guacamole salsa will light up your Fourth of July - Chicago Tribune

Image
This year’s Fourth of July is different in ways that might have been hard to imagine in the past, but here we are. The pandemic and protests challenge even the most relaxed among us, but coming together, keeping a social distance, and celebrating our country’s independence couldn’t be more important in 2020. As for the following dish, it reminds us of our connection to Mexico and that inclusiveness is part of the American spirit.

What's better than nachos or tater tots? Totchos, and you can eat them at Disney's Hollywood Studios - Salon

Image
While I love fresh-cut french fries, my favorite fried potato creation has always been the tater tot. I love the grated form and the extra crunch they provide, and they make me nostalgic for the days when my mom would make them at the beach. Like Kleenex, they are a rare brand name synonymous with a product. Ore-Ida holds the trademark.  Another snack I grew up eating at the beach were nachos. So I felt a double dose of nostalgia when I discovered totchos, which are tater tots and corn chips topped with chili, green onions, sour cream and queso. When you think about it, tater tots do make so much sense paired with nachos.  Advertisement: RELATED: Disney shared its famous peanut butter and jelly milkshake recipe, and it only has four ingredients This culinary invention comes from Woody's Lunch Box at Disney's Hollywood Studios. The restaurant in Toy Story Land features a classic American menu, including grilled cheese sandwiches and old-fash...

Disney shared its bite-sized churros recipe, and you should dip them in chocolate or dulce de leche - Salon

Image
One of my all-time favorite foods is the churro, and I was so excited to finally try them in Spain last year on my very first trip to the Iberian peninsula. Though the churro gained popularity in Spain, the roots of this pastry actually trace back to China, where Portuguese merchants tried  youtiao . I've also had numerous delicious churros through the years while studying in Argentina and Mexico, where dulce de leche is a popular addition, and traveling across Latin America. I'm happy to report that the churros in Spain live up to the hype. But what's not to love about deep-fried dough sweetened with cinnamon and sugar? It's even better served with your favorite dipping sauce. For my roommate from Nuevo León, that's chocolate. You could also throw together a fresh fruit compote of guava or mango. The possibilities are truly endless. Advertisement: RELATED: Disney shared its famous peanut butter and jelly milkshake recipe, and it only has four i...

Tomatoes and avocados: Science in service of perfect guacamole - Chemical & Engineering News

Image
Room-temperature tomato vs. cold tomato Credit: Shutterstock Chill: Tomatoes can stay in the fridge for a few days without affecting flavor. Other than how to pronounce the word, perhaps the biggest tomato debate is over their storage. Should they absolutely never be kept in the refrigerator (but rather on the counter or other room temperature spot), or should everybody chill because the fridge is fine? What better way to settle the question than an exhaustive chemical analysis and a trained panel of sensory analysts to assess their flavor and smell? Researchers at the University of Göttingen studied ripe-picked tomatoes treated to mimic their usual path to consumers. They sat in cold storage at 12.5 °C for a day and at room temperature for 2 days. The difference in the tomatoes’ treatment began at what would have been the point of purchase, when some were put in the refrigerator and some were kept at room temperature. After 4 days, researchers measured the tomatoes’ sug...

Chipotle shared its recipe for guacamole, so you can make it without leaving home - Salon

Image
Chipotle is famous for its guacamole — not only because people love it but also because it costs "extra." When the fast-casual chain recently shared its secret recipe on social media, fans went wild. It only takes a simple six ingredients and six steps to reach guac perfection. And the best part is you can put guac on absolutely everything, because it never costs extra at home.  The original version is a crowd-pleaser, but you may want to elevate it on a special occasion like a birthday party or Cinco de Mayo. Toast some pepitas — either in vegetable oil over low heat on the stove or inside a warm oven — and toss over your guac with crumbled queso fresco for a creamy and salty upgrade. Martha Stewart tops her go-to guac with cherry tomatoes and hard-boiled eggs, and trust this alumnus of her magazine: It's a beautiful combination. We Made Chipotle’s Famous Guacamole Recipe. Here’s How it Turned Out. - Thrillist

Image
Guac's not extra when you end up making it yourself. COLE SALADINO/THRILLIST When Chipotle released its guacamole recipe late last month, the world was... well, nonplussed, to be honest. It’s as easy to prepare a simple guacamole with a few ingredients as it is to jazz up with endless extras. So while it was kind of nice of Chipotle to add its recipe to the growing list of companies doing the same, it did seem just a bit unnecessary.  But absence, as they say, makes the heart grow fonder, and many of us have grown accustomed to fast casual and fast food flavors that are a little hard to come by these days. Any guac is great guac, and nothing beats homemade, but as you spend more and more time limited to the signature flavors available in your own kitchen, you may find yourself with a hankering for the eerily specific tastes you can only find at the friendly neighborhood chain. That’s why we tried Chipotle’s guacamole recipe. Here’s how it turned out.  Recomme...
