Local girl supporting Humane Society for 14th birthday - Seymour Tribune

Macy Casner of Seymour turns 14 on Sunday.

Since it’s supposed to rain that day, her family is planning a parade Saturday.

Those wanting to participate by driving by, mailing or dropping off a card or participating in a scavenger hunt for the Humane Society of Jackson County can email her mother, Missy Casner, at mcasner03@gmail.com.

Macy has been able to sponsor a dog run for an entire year at the Humane Society since she was 5. If people decide to support her philanthropic mission, at least 20% of her birthday money will go toward helping the animals.

Macy also is accepting donations of items to give to the Humane Society. That includes bleach, Purina Dog or Puppy Chow, Purina Cat or Kitten Chow, nonscoopable cat litter, cat or dog treats, dog toys (Nylabones, Kong or rope toys), cat toys, a six-roll package of paper towels, laundry detergent, dish soap or any size garbage bags.

To arrange a drop-off of items, email Missy.

Another way to participate is to buy cookies from laurajoscookiesforkids.com for yourself or Macy and select the Humane Society of Jackson County as the charity of choice when ordering.

Finally, you can sponsor a dog run for a year with a $100 tax-deductible donation. That covers expenses for a dog while it’s at the shelter waiting to be adopted.
