FBI seeks photos, videos, tips to identify rioters at U.S Capitol Building - MLive.com

No doubt by now you’ve seen the shocking images of the riots that rocked Capitol Hill on Wednesday.

Countless more photos have undoubtedly not yet been shared but doing so may help bring those responsible to justice.

The FBI is seeking information that will assist in identifying individuals who are actively instigating violence in Washington, DC. The FBI is accepting tips and digital media depicting rioting and violence in the U.S. Capitol Building and surrounding area in Washington, DC, on Jan. 6.

“Our goal is to preserve the public’s constitutional right to protest by protecting everyone from violence and other criminal activity,” the FBI said in a notice.

At least six people from Michigan were arrested during Wednesday’s events, according to the Washington D.C. Metro Police Department.

The Associated Press was quick to share a steady stream of images when the chaos began on Wednesday afternoon.

They ranged from protestors fighting with police in the Capitol Rotunda, people smashing windows, and security officials standing with guns drawn on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives.

Other photos on social media showed intruders sitting at Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s desk, men stealing items from the building and others calmly lounging in the Senate chambers.

“Today, the symbolic foundation of our country was attacked by violent and destructive actions,” U.S. Rep. Tim Walberg, R-Tipton, said in a statement on Wednesday.

“I strongly condemn this reprehensible behavior and call for all violence to cease immediately. Everyone who illegally breached U.S. Capitol grounds should be held fully accountable for their lawlessness.
